This is the first podcast of a new series, "Leaders in Energy", chaired by Stuart Broadley, CEO of the EIC. In this first episode, we will be exploring the latest insights in the development of diversification for companies in the energy sector after what has been a very difficult period for business growth and how some of them have managed to not only stay afloat but how they actually managed to thrive from this unprecedented situation.

John Rowlands - Regional Director for Spain and Mexico in TRS Staffing Solutions
John Rowlands graduated from the University of Bath in 1994 with a degree in Biology. He has subsequently earned an MBA from the INESEM Business School in Spain and a Masters in HR from the Universidad de Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid.

He has worked in recruitment since 1994 and joined TRS in 2004 to open an office in Spain. In 2010, John opened the office of TRS in Mexico and is currently Regional Director for TRS Staffing Solutions for Spain and Mexico.

David Redmayne - Chief Executive Officer at NRL Group Ltd
After studying Physics and Business Studies at the University of Warwick, David initially joined NRL’s Recruitment business in 2011 to focus on business development opportunities across the technical engineering sector. Having served in several managerial positions during this time, in 2017 he was appointed as CEO for the Group - to oversee and drive forward operations across NRL’s Recruitment, Workforce Solutions, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Rail businesses.

Following significant development of the Group’s strategic and operational direction, he moved into his current role of CEO in 2019. David is responsible for the Group's strategic vision, maintaining oversight and involvement in business operations, ensuring cross-collaboration between branches, and ultimately delivering annual growth, budgets, and investment projects to continue to strengthen and evolve the NRL Group.

Katy Gifford - Chief Executive Officer at Aubin Group
Having trained as a chartered accountant with a BIG4 company Katy has 30+ years senior management experience in the Energy sector. Always with international companies, this experience has encompassed everything from operators, large service companies, consultancies and now SMEs. She also has considerable non-executive experience in the third and higher education sectors.

Katy joined Aubin as CFO in 2014 and was appointed CEO in 2018. During her time at Aubin and in predecessor companies she has led various restructuring and continuous improvement activities including simplifying product development processes, reducing working capital, raising significant additional working capital facilities, improving supply chain management processes, establishing due diligence processes and, most importantly, developing teams and individuals to enable them to perform at their best.
