Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. He joined Caroline in 1977, touring the country with the Caroline Roadshow for 10 years, having great fun. Barry helped with tender trips and worked on the Ross Revenge in '84 and '85. ...

With the help of some of the best and brightest Shakespeare fans in the world, we’re diving deep into 38 plays in 35 episodes (Henrys IV & VI only get one episode a piece; sorry, Bill). In every episode of The Shakespeare Series, I’ll be joined by a different guest (or guests) to discuss a different play in the canon- from the big picture to the tiniest nerdy detail. We have guests lined up who’ve appeared in title roles on the biggest national stages and others who’ve played messengers in 20-person houses; actors, directors, scholars, and even a stage manager, calling in from Stratford, Manila, Boston, Berlin, New York, Niagara, Newfoundland, Washington DC and, of course, Toronto. Every one of them knows their stuff and every one of them was chosen for exactly one reason- a big, bold, unapologetic love of the bard.

Shalyn Bass-McFaul is one of the thoughtful and emotionally enveloping classical actors I’ve ever encountered. Her solid technique and incredible depth of feeling pair with stage presence to make her captivating in any role but especially effective as tragic leading ladies. A core member of the Corona Cold Reads troupe, Shalyn has gifted us with dozens of brilliant performances but her complex and regal Tamora stands out as a particular highlight which is one of many reasons I asked her to join me to discuss Shakespeare’s bloodiest play- Titus Andronicus.

Stratford Festival stalwart Steve Ross not only had the season of his career at the festival this past summer, appearing in Something Rotten and taking on the flashy starring role in La Cage aux Folles , but he also had a hit down the road with Here For Now Theatre as his autobiographical play 12 Dinners was a highlight of that fast-growing company’s season.
