Hey there beachgoers! Are you ready for some waves and fun in the sun? Let's dive into the surf zone forecast for New York provided by the National Weather Service in New York.
First up, for all you riders in Kings (Brooklyn) hitting up Coney Island Beach and Manhattan Beach, there's a high rip current risk in effect until 6 PM this evening. Expect around 3 feet of surf height, a chance of rain in the cloudy weather, temperatures in the upper 60s, and winds coming from the east around 15 mph. So, ride those waves carefully and keep an eye out for those currents!
Moving over to Southern Queens at Jacob Riis Park and Rockaway Beach, the conditions are pretty similar. Once again, a high rip current risk is in effect until 6 PM with around 3 feet of surf height, cloudy skies, and temperatures in the upper 60s. Remember, safety first when you're out there catching those waves!
Heading to Southern Nassau's Atlantic Beach, Long Beach, Lido Beach, and Jones Beach, the story remains the same with a high rip current risk and similar surf height, weather, and temperature conditions. So, be cautious and enjoy the beach responsibly!
For those checking out the waters at Southwestern Suffolk's Gilgo State Park and Robert Moses State Park, yep, you guessed it - there's a high rip current risk with around 3 feet of surf height, cloudy skies, and temperatures in the upper 60s to mid 60s. Stay safe and have a blast out there!
Last but not least, for Southeastern Suffolk at Smith Point, Cupsogue Beach, Hither Hills State Park, and Ditch Plains, there's a high rip current risk as well. Expect around 4 feet of surf height, mostly cloudy weather with a chance of rain, and temperatures in the mid to upper 60s.
Remember, if you're hitting the surf zone, always keep a flotation device handy, swim near a lifeguard, and be aware of those currents. And for more info on rip currents and beach safety, check out the provided link!
