Joining us today- Darren McCarty drops by
Bridge Walk weekend re-cap
More police encounter discussion with former cop Steve Miller
Why we will Rally on the steps of Michigan's Capitol Building September 15
Join Jazz Cabbage hosts Jamie Lowell and Rick Thompson as they start the show with Ryan Bringold, the activist who led the team in preparing Bridge Walk 2021. NORML of Michigan and other groups gather and wear pro-cannabis shirts while walking across the Mackinac Bridge, a 5 mile suspension bridge connecting the two peninsulas of Michigan, in an event where thousands of people participate. This is the 8th year in a row that NORML has represented cannabis users at the Walk, and this year they were joined by other organizations. Bringold is the mastermind behind the September 15 Rally, a pro-cannabis freedoms rally on the steps of the Capitol Building in Lansing, to show solidarity among the state's canna consumers against a package of bills which would cut plant allowances for caregivers by 80%.
At 30 minutes in, Jazz Cabbage welcomes a former Michigan police officer-turned-cannabis activist, Steve Miller (Planet Green Trees Radio Show). Miller is a member of LEAP, the Law Enforcement Action Partnership, Miller continues the ongoing conversation about how cannabis consumers should handle law enforcement encounters. Miller was an officer, a detective and a shift commander in a Metro Detroit community during the War on Drugs; he relates the police perspective, their motivations for arrest and their techniques to get you to talk.
Four-time Stanley Cup champion Darren McCarty (Detroit Red Wings) talks about Pond Jam and discusses the impact a professional athlete can have on younger sports fanatics- and the responsibility to do good with your reputation. His segment begins at 48 minutes in. After, the conversation with Bringold continues to the end.
The Jazz Cabbage cast of regulars include Jim Salame (The Entheo Show, Decriminalize MI) Debra Young (MiLegalize) Adam L Brook (Medical Mondays, 'Mr. Hash Bash') Rick Thompson (MiNORML, Four20Post, Weed Talk News) and Jamie Lowell (Michigan ASA, The Botanical Company, Medical Mondays) and Shelly Smith (Reads and Weeds).
Jazz Cabbage received an Award of Distinction from the Communicator Awards in April of 2021, and was named One of America's Best Cannabis Podcasts by Celeb Stoner Magazine. The broadcast takes place live every Tuesday at 4pm EST on YouTube and Facebook; podcast is available for listening shortly thereafter on Alexa, Spotify and all major platforms.
