If not here or there then in the air.

Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day! This is message #176 and I am Aaron Havens.

At one point in my life I worked at a large non-denominational church in Houston Texas. And one of the executive pastors had a cheesy “see ya later” phrase. You know, the go-to phrase you say when you’re saying goodbye to someone for the day.

His was “If not here or there, I’ll see you in the air”. I would laugh every time.

Isn’t it true though. I mean kinda morbid. True no-the-less. We are not guaranteed this next heartbeat. Years have passed since my mentor would leave me with his signature salutation. And you know what? I might just rip it off. “If not here or there then in the air”. I think I like that! To me it recognizes that life is transit, evolving, has a lot of moving pieces. Some days I’m here, some days I’m there. Zig Zagging through life. As long as you and I get to put our hand to the same plow… I’m honored. And if one day, this is the last day we see each other… then I’ll see you in the air. I like how this phrase acknowledges the joy of living life today and the reminder that life is bigger than today.

So my friends. Whats on your agenda today? Will you give it all you got, wring it all out. Throw everything you’ve got at the minutes of life you get today? And at the end of the day will you look back with a smile being thankful for another opportunity to live life with the people, going the place and doing the things you were able to do today?

What a good reminder for all of us. If you’re stressed today, maybe the simple act of gratitude can help calm your being.

Really can today be that simple? I think so!
