Producer’s Note: A few days after this episode was a record, a federal judge ruled that the law requiring the Ten Commandments to be put on display in Louisiana was “unconstitutional on its face”. However, the AP notes: “Attorney General Elizabeth Murrill said she disagreed with the ruling and said her office would ask the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans to quickly stay the ruling pending appeal. Murrill said that by law, [the] ruling can only apply to five local school boards named as defendants in the lawsuit — in East Baton Rouge, Livingston, St. Tammany, Orleans and Vernon parishes.”
The pending law states that classrooms must display the King James Bible version of the Ten Commandments in a large, readable font, along with a “context statement” that explains that the 10 Commandments "were a prominent part of American public education for almost three centuries.”
