Expert Led Plan To Reduce UHL Overcrowding To Be Published Next Week

A new plan aiming to significantly reduce overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick through short term interventions is expected to be published next week. In May, a crisis team involving former Irish Emergency Medicine Association President Dr Fergal Hickey, HSE National Director of Acute Hospitals Grace Rothwell and Director of Nursing at University Hospital Waterford Orla Kavanagh, were tasked with identifying solutions to alleviate pressure at the regions main hospital. According to the HSE CEO Bernard Gloster, former Chief Justice Franke Clarke's report into the death of Shannon Teenager Aoife Johnston will also be completed later this month. Responding to Ennistymon Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway at the Oireachtas Health Committee, Mr Gloster says he's hopeful the new recommendations will improve patient care.
