Welcome to episode 39 where we discuss the MHSWR '99, regulation 6 which is your legal requirement to carry out health surveillance, if required. Keeping a check on workers health is both a moral and legal duty but also helps protect from the financial implications if you fail to comply with the law! We also discuss the HSE campaign in 2025 to check that employers are complying and the increase in improvements notices served by inspectors already. As always, we love to hear from you so if you have any questions or stories to share, get in touch via email, instagram and tik tok Daisy & Lynsey xx…
Welcome to episode 38. This week is another special where Lynsey gets to chat to Gary Pharo from Sundstrom Safety about all things RPE. RPE can be a vital part of your control measures but is a topic that is so massive that very few people truly understand it. There are so many elements to complying and purely providing RPE is a tiny element of the package. In this episode we discuss the elements to consider when deciding on RPE as a control measure from the product itself to the on going management, training, storage etc... As always, we truly hope you enjoy listening and learning and if there are any elements you want to discuss, feel free to get in touch via instagram, tik tok or email. Lynsey & Daisy xx…
Gill Kernick lived on the 21st floor of Grenfell Tower up until 2014. Many of those who were her neighbours at the time were lost in the horrific fire which broke out on June 14th 2017. Gill subsequently has written a book about what happened and why we don't seem to be able to move forward and truly prevent catastrophic events from occurring and reoccurring. In this special episode, Daisy talks with Gill through her personal experiences, her book and her hopes for future systemic change. Thanks for listening.…
Welcome to the final instalment of our 4 part PDCA cycle. This week we look at the ACT segment and the HSG 65 description of what this section is looking at. As always, we break down, in our own words, what this element is asking of a business and why it is so important. We discuss the importance of sharing and communication (of course effectively!) and why the findings, especially if they highlight gaps, are really powerful for improving H&S management. L&D xx…
Welcome to the third instalment of the PDCA cycle. This episode we discuss what the check element contains and why it is so important to ensure good H&S performance. We have focussed on one element, which is the monitoring aspect of this segment as we decided to do a whole separate episode on Incident investigation as it has its own HSG document so that will follow shortly! Monitoring that what you had planned and implemented is actually being done and achieving what you wanted to achieve is such an important part on H&S management so this element is VITAL to any system and when it highlights gaps, that's even more important because you can make positive improvements. So sit back, relax and enjoy the journey with us. Remember to join us over on tiktok to help us get even more content out! Lynsey & Daisy x…
Welcome to our 2nd element of the 4 part PDCA cycle. Moving on from our previous episode where we discussed planning H&S Management, now we're getting it rolled out. Just search us up using Health and Safety Angels. Lynsey & Daisy…
Welcome to the first part of a 4 part series that are about breaking down the PDCA model, a template that the HSG 65 suggests for H&S Management - The Plan, Do, Check Act model. This episode is focussing on the PLAN segment so we're discussing what elements you need to take in to consideration when thinking about PLANNING H&S before we start. We did our best to keep on track this week so you only have 11 mins of chat before we get cracking, we know you know that is good for us!! Remember to get in touch with us if you have any feedback, questions or as we ask in this episode, let us know if you disagree with our opinion and can let us know why you disagree because we would be very interested to hear another view. Thanks for joining us on this episode, we appreciate you being with us on this journey. Daisy & Lynsey x…
Welcome to our very unplanned episode! We sat down to record what we intended to be the part 1 of the 4 part H&S management system mentioned in the previous episode.... but as you will have become accustomed to, we got engrossed in our H&S chit chat and an hour later we realised we hadn't actually even reached the intended topic.... so we hope you enjoy our discussions on recent prosecutions, health and safety related movies, some revelations about life activities and Daisy's incredible geeky knowledge!
