“I used to be the largest dairy consumer on the planet. I used to eat so much dairy and meat. The more that I looked into the dairy industry, the more that I saw that it was the singular, most inhumane industry on the planet, that we've all been lied to, including myself, for years. I always believed that the picture on the milk carton, the cow standing next to her calf in the green field with the red barn in the back was true. What they uncovered was systemic animal abuse, environmental violations, and a devastating betrayal of consumer trust. Despite the evidence, this story has been largely ignored by mainstream media—likely due to Coca-Cola’s massive influence and advertising dollars.…
Zoey is form Montana, which I think is one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. I am also noticing that peoples experiences are all so different, Vivi was quarantined with a swimming pool, Zoey was quarantined with snow and birthdays, and I am quarantined with a crazy brother who took all his clothes off while he was sky-ping with his teacher. Although he is five, it is still not okay.…
Amelia and I have about forty miles in between us, but we are still friends. Amelia and I talk about everything from raptors to cancelled Billie Eilish concerts.
Though I do not know Willa well, her dad grew up with my dad. She lives in NYC but spent the last year traveling around the world, so she is no stranger to homeschooling. But this situation definitely is still new to everyone.
In the first weekly review, the roles reverse and my mom asks me questions about the events that happened during the week. It is a fun mix of review and interview. Hang in to hear from Willa, in NYC, and Harper and India from DC.
I know I said we'd be moving to another state, but so much is happening in CA this week that I wanted to take one more look. Sabi and I talk toilet paper hoarding and crazy little brothers. Tomorrow we'll meet Rio from Baltimore, cutest kid on Earth, one of her moms is a hospital administrator, supporting the doctors who are preparing for the pandemic.…
While I was trying to find time to Skype with Mattie today for our interview, Mayor Breed put San Francisco on lockdown. We are figuring out what that means.
I talk with Claire, my friend from school about distance learning, changes with her mom's job (she's a doctor at a big hospital), and things we've been thinking about while stuck at home. We are going to learn her perspective of COVID-19.
