In this episode of the TNTalks #StudentStory series, Dr. Heather Adams interviews Noelle Dana, NISTS 2022 Transfer Student Ambassador and Notre Dame undergrad. Noelle shares her personal journey through higher education, discusses how the 4-year to 4-year transfer process can be improved, and highlights the initiatives she is undertaking to help cultivate a welcoming and receptive transfer culture at her current institution.
About Our Guest
Noelle Dana is an undergraduate at the University of Notre Dame, majoring in Classics and Philosophy, Science, and Mathematics and minoring in Business Economics. Noelle decided to transfer to Notre Dame in the fall semester of her sophomore year after budgetary cuts at her former university, University of Vermont, resulted in the reduction of faculty and other resources. Since arriving at Notre Dame, she has become actively involved in student affairs and engagement. As a transfer advocate, Noelle met with several student leaders, faculty, and staff to discuss increasing services for transfer students. Her main areas of focus include creating a “hub” where off-campus transfer students can stay between classes, extending eligibility to transfers for various honors program opportunities, and expanding criteria to allow tutoring for transfers.
