When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. AI isn't new. It's been lurking in labs since the '50s, with bursts of enthusiasm and funding followed by "AI winters." But something's different now. In the last couple of years, AI has exploded into the mainstream in a way that feels both thrilling and overwhelming. Every day brings new breakthroughs, products, and predictions. It's hard to keep up. You might start your morning marveling at some new AI demo, only to end the day feeling lost in a sea of jargon and competing claims. That's why I started Pivotal Clarity. We talk to the people who are actually building and researching this stuff - the founders, engineers, and scientists who are a few steps ahead of the hype cycle. Our goal is simple: to cut through the noise and give you a clear picture of what's really happening in AI. We're not here to cheerlead or fearmonger. We just want to understand this technology that's reshaping our world, and help you understand it too. Whether you're building the next big AI startup or just trying to figure out what all this means for your job, Pivotal Clarity is for you. Each episode, we'll dive deep into one aspect of AI, guided by someone who knows it inside and out. No buzzwords, no fluff - just honest conversations and real insights. The world is changing fast. Let's try to see clearly where it's going

AI isn't new. It's been around since the 50s, going through waves of excitement and funding, then lulls. But now it feels different. That's why I started this podcast. I talk to people actually building AI - founders, engineers, scientists. Those doing the work. The goal is simple: show what's really happening in AI. In this episode, I speak with Dr. Mfon Akpan. He teaches accounting and has worked at several universities. He also helps oversee finances for Fayetteville. We cover: How AI is changing accounting Two ways AI reasons: "chain of thought" and "tree of thought" Why some AI tools are hard to access Problems companies face when trying to use AI Why AI tools might get more expensive Dr. Akpan knows a lot about mixing new tech with old-school fields. He's been teaching and researching for over 10 years. If you want to understand AI's real impact on business and society, beyond the hype, this conversation is worth your time. Welcome to Pivotal Clarity, an AI Podcast. AI isn't new. It's been lurking in labs since the '50s, with bursts of enthusiasm and funding followed by "AI winters." But something's different now. That's why I started Pivotal Clarity. We talk to the people building and researching this stuff - the founders, engineers, and scientists who are a few steps ahead of the hype cycle. Our goal is simple: to cut through the noise and clearly show what's happening in AI. I’m your host, Rajan Maruthavanan. In this Pivotal Clarity AI Podcast episode , Peter Voss , Founder and CEO of Aigo.ai , discusses the evolution of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) with host Rajan. He highlights AGI's origins, current misconceptions, and the need to focus on real-time learning and adaptability over the narrow AI applications currently at play. Peter critiques reliance on large language models and advocates for a cognitive approach that mimics human learning. Here are the key talking points from the episode: The Evolution and Future of Artificial General Intelligence Why AGI Makes People Uncomfortable Hollywood's Influence on AI Perception and Industry Dynamics The Future of AGI and the Limitations of Large Language Models Integrating Neurosymbolic Architecture for Enhanced AI Reasoning Pursuing AGI Over Narrow AI for Greater Impact Peter Voss has been working on AGI for over 20 years. He's not just theorizing - he's building. His company, Aigo.ai, is tackling the hard problem of making AI that actually reasons, not just pattern matches. Voss started as an engineer, then founded a company that grew to 400 people and went public. But he's been drawn back to the AGI challenge. He thinks the key is mimicking human cognition, not just crunching more data. His work has practical applications too. Aigo.ai is using their AGI tech to make chatbots that adapt to individual users. Voss helped popularize the term AGI back in 2002. He's still at it, trying to solve one of the hardest problems in computer science. Highlights Timestamps 0:06 - The Evolution and Future of Artificial General Intelligence 5:45 - Why AGI Makes People Uncomfortable 7:46 - Hollywood's Influence on AI Perception and Industry Dynamics 10:29 - The Future of AGI and the Limitations of Large Language Models 23:33 - Integrating Neurosymbolic Architecture for Enhanced AI Reasoning 30:25 - Pursuing AGI Over Narrow AI for Greater Impact Episode Resources Peter Voss on LinkedIn Aigo.ai Website Rajan Maruthavanan on LinkedIn Upekkha Website Pivotal Clarity | An AI Podcast is handcrafted by our friends over at: fame.so .…
Introducing our brand new podcast! 🚀 AI is changing everything, but most people don't see it yet. The real action isn't in flashy consumer apps or big tech PR. It's in obscure papers and github repos that are quietly redefining what's possible. I'm starting a podcast to explore this. It is called Pivotal Clarity. Not to hype AI, but to understand it. We'll dig into the technical details that matter and ignore the fluff. Each episode will dissect one key development in AI. We'll talk to the researchers and founders actually building these systems, not just commentators. The goal isn't to predict the future, but to spot the trends that will shape it. What are the smartest hackers excited about? What hard problems are suddenly becoming tractable? If you want to understand how AI will transform business and society, this podcast is for you. No buzzwords or hand-waving - just clear analysis of the ideas that matter. The first episode drops tomorrow. Subscribe if you're curious.
