" It was just a colour—but not any color of our earth or heavens. And because Ammi recognized that color, and knew that this last faint remnant must still lurk down there in the well, he has never been quite right since." Picture this. It's early March 2020. The boys have gathered in Austin, Texas to celebrate Peter's imminent wedding. There is booze. There are tacos. There are Bird scooters. There is a film. A strange film. A Nicholas Cage film, directed by Richard Stanley. A film that will change everything for the boys, and herald the change that is coming for the world beyond. That film is 2020's "Color Out of Space", a totally bonkers adaptation of a totally bonkers H.P. Lovecraft story. There are scares, Tommy Chong, and.... alpacas. My god are there alpacas. Join us as we dive deep, finally come up for air, and are forever.... changed. Alpacas.…
The Rocketeer is a 1991 American superhero film from Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by Joe Johnston, it stars Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connelly, Alan Arkin, Timothy Dalton, Paul Sorvino, and Tiny Ron Taylor. It is based on the character of the same name created by comic book artist and writer Dave Stevens. Set in 1938 Los Angeles, California, The Rocketeer tells the story of stunt pilot Cliff Secord, who discovers a hidden rocket pack that he thereafter uses to fly without the need of an aircraft. His heroic deeds soon attract the attention of Howard Hughes and the FBI, who are hunting for the missing rocket pack, as well as the Nazi operatives who stole it from Hughes. What's not to love? We've got a packed house for this episode in Hollywoodland. Connor, Frank, Matt and Peter all made sure to clear their schedules to talk about what's become something of a hidden gem. Accompanied by a stellar score by James Horner, join the boys as we go back to the early days of the super hero genre. You can watch The Rocketeer on Disney+. Be sure to follow us on Instagram .…
The year is 2027. Cyborgs roam the streets of the America/Japan Corporate Union. The Red Army Hammerheads, a cyborg separatist group plans... a murder of some kind? And only Alex Rain, who is also a cyborg, but not as much of a cyborg as the other ones, is the only man/83% cyborg, who can stop... the cyborgs, who we think might be 100% cyborg, but that would make them robots. We can't be sure, but the sunglasses and trench coats are defiantly a vibe. ANYWAY.... Join the boys as they try to decipher a movie that we know, for sure, is a 1992 cyberpunk action film directed by the great Albert Pyun, starting Oliver (pronounced Olivie-ay) Gruner, that was once described as "A story told by an 8 year old that had reached into a bag of sci-fi tropes from the 80's, and is just making it up as he goes along" by one of the hosts of this podcast. "Nemesis" can be seen in full, for free, on Youtube. Watch along with us so that you too, can be "State of the Fucking Art".…
Matt and Frank are back in there continuous quest to cover all of the James Bond movies. This week we get too pretty middling entries: - You Only Live Twice (1967) - Octopussy (1983) In You Only Live Twice, Bond (Sean Connery) is dispatched to Japan after American and Soviet-crewed spacecraft vanish mysteriously in orbit, each nation blaming the other amidst the Cold War. Bond travels secretly to a remote Japanese island to find the perpetrators, and comes face-to-face with Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the head of SPECTRE. The film reveals the appearance of Blofeld, who was previously unseen. SPECTRE is working for the government of an unnamed Asian power, implied to be the People's Republic of China, to provoke war between the superpowers.[4][5] In Octopussy, Bond (Roger Moore) is assigned the task of hunting a megalomaniacal Soviet general (Steven Berkoff) who is stealing jewellery and art objects from the Kremlin art repository. This leads Bond to the exiled Afghan prince Kamal Khan (Louis Jourdan), and his associate Octopussy (Maud Adams), and the discovery of a plot to force disarmament in Western Europe with the use of a nuclear weapon.…

Happy New Year! This time, the boys have honored a resolution to, once again, inflict movies on their co-hosts. Matt's weapon of choice is the often maligned video game adaptation and production mess that is the 1999 Wing Commander film. Stick around long enough and you might find out why pilgrim is a dirty word and learn to believe that our conversation never existed.…
Jonathan Taylor Thomas faces an impossible journey when he is left stranded in the desert, thousands of miles from home, with no money and only a few days left until Christmas. Join the boys at NFG as we wrap up our final holiday present of the year - 1998's "I'll Be Home For Christmas". One of the most scrolled-over movies on Disney+.…
It's the most wonderful time of the year again, and as tradition dictates, we find the NFG crew gathered around the fire, trimming the tree, sipping cocoa, and discussing the darkest Christmas movie since "One Magic Christmas". Unlike "One Magic Christmas", "The Holdovers" does not feature gunfire, and is actually really really really good. Join us on our jolly jaunt back to the 2nd hand smoke filled Christmas of 1970, as we discuss a wonderfully human tale of humans finding the humanity in each other, and not being sure which of Paul Giamatti's eyes to focus on while we talk to him.…
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and football season is in full swing. What better way to celebrate than with one of the most celebrated football movies of all time? Don't agree? You're gonna have to listen in to find out what we think. Enjoy the turkey, stay safe, and keep the faith, folks.
All Hallows Eve is upon us! Gather round the campfire friends, and Frank, Connor, Matt, and Peter, bring you the hair raising tale of DRACULA: 2000! It's a familiar tale. Boy meets girl, boy bites girl, and then another girl, and then that guy from That's 70 Show who shall remain nameless. Then boy wanders the streets of New Orleans in a long black coat, while nu metal blares in the background. Our boy, Dracula, just might like the 21st century...…

You feel that in the air? The breeze is a little cooler, days are shorter, the buildings are on fi-...the, the buildings are on fire? What-...oh it's Detroit. But it's not as bad as-...1994. Right. As the seasons turn, the gang revisits an old classic to change our tone for the autumn harvest. We talk death, grief, and funny faces in one of Connor's favorite movies: The Crow.…

"What's to happen is, you will become proper hosts. And draw tunics of the red bright light company of the South Essex, and you will hand in your precious lavaliers and draw proper microphones to go along with being proper dressed. Fit for podcasts at last!" Matt & Connor choose this moment to draw Peter into the world of Sharpe and his Company. This entry is decidedly less Horatio Hornblower and more Thin Red Line than the last few entries, but we find plenty to talk about...not least of which Star Wars.…
Overtaxed, overworked, and paid off with a knife, a club, or a rope. No, we're not talking about today's politics, we're traveling back to Sherwood Forest! We've seen a few versions of Robin Hood in our time. Some might say too many. At the end of the day, it might just be this one that's worthy of earnest praise. So trend-setting in action/adventure film that it'd feel cliche if you didn't know better. But now you *will* know better!…
This week, the boys open up the Criterion Collection vault and pull out-[checks notes]...a Michael Bay movie? [re-reads] A Michael Bay movie. At least they'll be able to answer one of the great questions of cinema. The most famous, of course, is "what does God need with a starship?" But only slightly lesser known, "Is 1996's 'The Rock' a secret James Bond movie?" There's only one way to find out!…
We've got a special treat for you this week. The NFG boys are joined by Mark Usher & Johnny Phillips, hosts of the Mastering McConaughey Podcast. We sit down with them to discuss the 1999 comedy ' Blue Streak ', starring Martin Lawrence, Luke Wilson and Dave Chappelle. Though April showers may come your way, they bring the flowers that bloom in May! And now it's March, and here's our first episode of 2024. Well be honest, 2023 was not an easy year for the NFG boys, so we took a few months off. Fortunately we had Natalie Wilson, who made a generous donation to Timmy Nelson's (past a future guest) charity stream for Child's Play, a charity that puts video games in the hands and hearts of children that have long stays at a hospital. Natalie decided she wanted to hear our thoughts on "Singin' in the Rain" (1952), and here they are! They'll be standing in lines For those old honky-tonk monkeyshines, and so will you.…
In which our heroes open their hearts and celluloid spills out. CONTENT WARNING: Death and grief. 2023 was a challenging year but especially so for Peter & Matt, who lost their dads. TIMECODES: 1. Punisher: War Zone - 0:14:01 2. Patton - 0:35:23 3. Airplane! - 0:59:21 4. Animal House - 1:16:07 5. Star Trek: Generations - 1:36:29 6. The Blues Brothers - 2:05:10…
Merry Christmas and Pod Bless Us, Everyone! Rounding out what ended up being a year of no-bummers, we knew there would only be one choice for our Christmastide Commentary: The Muppet Christmas Carol. Sit down with your favorite brand of eggnog or cocoa (or bourbon), pop in your trusty tape (or open Disny+) and hang for the next 90 minutes of holiday cheer. You'll also be able to revel in Frank's continued phobia of the Ghost of Christmas Past. LISTENER'S NOTE: we're watching the *full* version of the movie which includes the "When Love is Gone" song. A lot of DVDs and older Blu Rays don't include this song, but if the version you're watching indicates the "full" version of the film you're good. It's available on Disney+ under the Special Features for the movie. This version has the audio track of the movie if you don't want to watch along. Stay safe, hug your loved ones, and enjoy!…

Is it a "Santa is dropped into a Die Hard scenario" movie? Yes... Yes it is. Did you think there was more then one of those? Because this is the only one. Fatman (2020) was more of a kinda bad Coen Brothers revenge story kinda thing. Krampus was a holiday themed horror anthology. Violent Night stands alone as THE "Santa Clause is dropped into a Die Hard scenario" movie. Listen you should watch it. It's pretty good. The boys are going to talk about it for more then an hour. Merry Christmas you filthy animal.…
"You don't see a podcast. You hear it. White noise blasting by the ton on all sides. ASMR sounds blinding you and choking you and making you vomit." That's right, the Unchosen Men are back and this time they've brought a fresh recruit! Frank joins us as Sharpe trains the South Essex regiment for fighting a column of seasoned French infantrymen. Listen, it's a Sharpe movie. It's got guns, gals, and gazetted captains, though definitely not that toff Gibbons. We'll learn what a damn fine soldier Major Lennox was and for what offense he ANSWERED. WITH. HIS. LIFE. (as you should have done, if you had any sense of honor!) Today, on the…[checks notes]…214th anniversary of the…Battle of Alba de Tormes? It's Sharpe's Eagle on NO FLICKS GIVEN!…
You're in for a treat today! Matt and Frank are back to bring you a staple of November. No not turkey. No not massive sales on things you don't need. It's Bond season. And with that, both of them have selected two more James Bond entries to cover, as well as an in-depth conversation on the franchise as a whole. Frank and Matt previously covered Thunderball, Tomorrow Never Dies and No Time to Die on their other podcast Give it Five. You can check out that martini-induced ramble here . First up Matt brings us Diamonds Are Forever (1971) - Sean Connery's last official trip through the halls of MI6 as he confronts Blofeld yet again. Their battle takes them to Las Vegas, Nevada, the final destination of a diamond-smuggling chain where Blofeld unveils his more deadly evil plan to date. Then we move to the Florida Keys for Frank's pick: Licence to Kill (1989), Timothy Dalton's second - and final - wear of the tux. This time Bond goes rogue. Back when it wasn't a cliche. He's on a warpath to avenge the injury to his best friend Felix Leiter. Come to think of it you'd think he'd go after the shark, no? His target: Franz Sanchez, drug kingpin and unofficial power of the fictional island country of Isthmus.…
The nightmare that has been Peter's horror movie rubric finally comes to an end as we cover the third and final spooktacular entry in this year's Halloween series with Matt's pick: 1987's The Gate, which was directed by Tibor Takács and stars Stephen Dorff in his film debut. The Gate follows a group of neighborhood kids who accidentally release a horde of demons from their backyard through a large hole in the ground. Basically Goonies crossed with Evil Dead. With masterful atmosphere, top-notch creature designs and great child actors, The Gate provides you all the hauntingly fun fright that you want from a Halloween movie. So tune in to hear a scarily-fun conversation, as well as a final breakdown of all three films to find out which Peter arbitrarily decides "wins" this little Octoberial contest. Follow the boys at No Flicks Given on Instagram to see what's coming up next. After all, Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner...…
