She received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mississippi in 2002. While at the University of Mississippi, she was an active mentor, tutor, and summer counselor in the Louis Stokes for Minority Participation I.M.A.G.E program, which encouraged students in STEM to engage in research and pursue graduate education. Thanks to the mentoring and support she received from the I.M.A.G.E. program, she earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2008 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at New York University.
