The mainstream outlets lost their collective mind this past week over a nothing-burger story about a hostile reporter from The Atlantic being "inadvertently" added to a group chat between high-ranking officials from the Trump Administration discussing war plans in Yemen. To much exaggerated celebration from the left, in his farewell address, Joe Biden warned of an impending oligarchic takeover of America. Curious that this is only a problem now that his side lost the election (despite being overwhelmingly supported by people they would otherwise call "oligarchs") and apparently only includes, in the category as potential "oligarchs," wealthy people they don't like. It appears, to surprise of no one, that the regime has learned nothing from its recent political defeats. It's all because the electorate is either too stupid or too ignorant of the alleged threats against them to realize that they should be voting for the regime to keep *checks notes* ruining their lives. Elon's DOGE and astute X users gave the country a major gift the week before Christmas this year. Once again, at the 11th hour, the parasites in Congress tried to rush through a 1,500+ page spending bill, loaded with pork and all other manner of waste, fraud, and abuse. As intended, this gave the few members that are trying to do the best for the American people precious little time to even read the bill let alone be well versed enough to oppose anything of substance in it. But, fortunately for us, the bill made its way into X's Grok AI where it was quickly analyzed and users on X were able to pick it apart in record time and place pressure on their representatives not to vote for it. This caused chaos on Capitol Hill, forcing them to go back to the drawing board and come up with a much more trimmed down bill (now only 118 pages) to pass in order to avoid a government shutdown. As libertarians we've been disaffected with both Democrats and Republicans for a long time. All the propaganda about "wasting votes on a third party" and "a vote for a Libertarian/third-party candidate is a vote for whoever won" (according to the side that lost) has never worked on us. We've voted our conscience in every election we've participated in and apologized to no one for that. But, this one was different. Only Trump has spoken to the concerns of libertarians (see his appearance at the Libertarian Party National Convention earlier this year) and has demonstrated through his actions thus far that he is seriously listening to libertarian voices around him. But, perhaps more fundamentally than that, he is not in open conflict with us like Kamala and all her supporters (see the Bush, Cheney, Clinton, and Obama crime families as well as the entire regime "security" apparatus) have made it clear that they are. For us, a vote for Trump this go-round is not only a vote for someone at least pretending to care about our issues for the first time ever, but a vote of self-defense against the most evil, vile collection of human beings ever assembled under one political banner. The story of the government's response to Hurricane Helene is a story of layered failure, incompetence, and evil in three parts. First, is generalized federal waste, fraud, and abuse of U.S. tax payers' dollars. While it has given billions in foreign aid since the start of 2024, it has given only $750 to those impacted by Helene. Second, is specific federal waste, fraud, and abuse. We learned this week that FEMA (the federal agency specifically tasked with responding to natural disasters) has spent billions settling illegal migrants in the U.S., leaving it cash strapped to help out actual American citizens who recently lost everything. Finally, is intentional evil. There are numerous and ongoing reports on the ground of private citizens seeking to help victims being delayed or completely prevented by FEMA and other government agencies from getting to those in need. The key takeaway here is that government is never coming to help, and may actually actively prevent you from getting help from others, so preparing yourself and building your local network is paramount to respond to these kinds of disasters in the future. We also discuss Kamala Harris's recent comments about free speech being a "privilege" and wanting to rein in Elon Musk and X because they've "abused that privilege," and what this means for all of us if she's allowed to assume the position of Empress Kackles. Francis wrote these words decades ago. As we sit here today with a near permanent bureaucracy, that none of us ever have or will get to vote for, which is the primary ruler of every minute detail of our lives as made evident by the fact that despite changing elected parties/politicians, government policy only ever moves in the direction of increasing state power while acting in direct contradiction to the interests of the electorate, it should be clear to any rational/objective observer that Francis was more prophet than pariah on this point. This week Julian Assange was finally freed from his 12-year-long unjustified imprisonment for daring to expose the lies and war crimes of the U.S. foreign policy intelligentsia. In a truly just world these people would be tried for their crimes, but for now, we will settle for righting the wrong of keeping Assange in prison for exposing their misdeeds to the world. Also this week, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a 40-year-old precedent known as "Chevron Deference" which eroded everything we were taught about how the system of checks and balances was supposed to keep the people safe from too much power being collected in one branch of government. Now legislators have to return to legislating more prudently, judges judging more wisely, and executive agency bureaucrats have to return to their place simply enforcing the law instead of making it up. The disorder and chaos comes out of leftists viewing themselves as god, assuring that they will come into conflict with everyone else who does the same. This is why the left always eats itself. Leftism also leads to finding purpose in destruction because adherents lack the capacity for planning, foresight, discipline, and perseverance needed to build.
