Paul wrote this corrective letter to the church in Galatia because the believers were being fooled by legalistic Jews in their understanding of grace; they were thinking they could add to God's grace and gain His acceptance by keeping God’s ceremonial laws that He had given to Jews. Paul was teaching them and us as well that we are justified by faith alone and not by anything we can do.
