Hey Folks! Welcome to the Brief Encounter Podcast. I've been a professional drummer for over 30 years and have played with some great bands and musicians such as Picturehouse, Marianne Faithfull, Paul Brady, Glen Hansard and The Frames to name but a few.I've always been interested in what it takes to pursue an artistic endeavour and maintain longevity in a very challenging industry so I'll be interviewing artists from all walks of life.

Jeff Chambers visits Carnforth Station, in Lancashire, in north-west England. The 1945 film Brief Encounter was partly filmed here, and the location of many of the scenes can still be found. Jeff re-visits the romantic story, and explores its relevance to the audiences of today. Carnforth though is also the home to a working steam locomotive depot, and Jeff relates the visit of two steam-hauled trains, along with more of the history of this interesting little railway station.
