Manage episode 209601754 series 92544
This episode begins with an oddified exclusive presentation of the audio extracted from a video clip of Joni Mitchell performing during an interview at the banks of the river Amstel in Amsterdam for a Dutch music programme called "Twee Meter Sessies" (Two Meter Sessions) and continues with an excerpt from the ultra-groovy Gnod & White Hills performing "Drop Out." Soon we're miles away for a brief excursion into the Fourth World with a collage of Jon Hassell's "These Times" and Steve Reich's "Pulse" followed by a complementary collage of Pearls Before Swine's gem of a song, "Another Time" (long lost but found thanks to The Chill Room's "Women of the World, Take Over" podcast ep.) and Keith Zak's melancholic soundscrape, "The Theory Of Everything" - which leads us to another collage, where this time, Jon Hassell is accompanied by the Baka Forest People's "Ieta" over excerpts from ROVO's live performance of their epic jazz rock fusion marvel, "Vitamine." Wooden Shjips follow with their psychebilly gallop of "Lazy Bones" :D before we close out this episode with the audio extracted from a video clip of The Notwist fortified with the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra performing "Gloomy Planets."
