"Structural Timbres: A Generative Infestation" is a live stream of a dead-living sound object entitled "Structural Timbres: A Generative Infestation". It is a real-time stream of a generative audio system which models the patterns, behaviour and sounds of a deathwatch beetle infestation, originally scheduled for the duration of the 52nd NeMLA Virtual Annual Convention.

Andrew’s sound colony is dead-living because while it is an executed program with seemingly organic behaviour such as communication, instinct and reproduction, it is nonorganic because the sonic contagion is generated through the insensate algorithms of software. This particular instance of a sonic infestation could continue multiplying its effect indefinitely.
Andrew Bradt is a Canadian artist, composer, and sound designer residing in Montreal since 2017. He has collaborated on theatre works for live performance and virtual reality, dance, and live electronic music performance. His individual works consist of two-channel and multi-channel composition, and audio/video works. Since 2018, his practice has increasingly focused on the development of systems which generate audio materials for non-linear compositions and virtual installations. The use of big data as a variable within these systems is also an aspect of his practice. He holds a BFA in Electroacoustic Studies from Concordia University.
