Cohabitation with the deathwatch beetle skitters into the subject’s sense of safety, the home becomes an othered place of doom, and this raises questions regarding destabilization of our anthropocentricity through a process of integration of disintegration, of the seemingly stable conditions of the home or the cultural institution as infiltrated with a kind of becoming- death. The infestation is a carrier of unavoidable decay.
"Basement" is a live improvised session for guitar, synthesizer, laptop, and wood. It was recorded live to mike in a basement room, following a looped bass track and responding to the aural patterns of deathwatch beetles. It was then digitally enhanced for clarity and entangled with atonal preoccupations.
