Gut health is an important part of our overall health and wellbeing. We all need a happy gut for a happy and healthy life. While what we eat has a huge impact on our individual gut health, that is only a part of the story. There is a strong interplay with our mind as well, which affects our mental and emotional wellbeing.

In this episode I'm joined by Cara Wheatley-McGrain, founder of the Mindful Gut, a coach, Hay House author and speaker. Inspired by her own healing journey, Cara has developed a revolutionary approach to thriving with IBS and IBD through understanding, loving and listening to your gut. What You Will Learn In This Episode:

- How to cultivate compassion, self-care and greater connection with your gut

- Useful techniques for a calmer and more mindful lifestyle

- How to develop an intuitive eating practice that is going to help you calm your guts

- What is gut microbiome, how it impacts our eating practice and how it’s linked with our mental health

- How stress affects our gut microbiome, our physical and emotional health

- What vagus nerve is and how deep, abdominal breathing stimulates and tones our vagus nerve and supports it in our response to stress

Diversity is key for gut health. We need to look at what we’re eating and increase plant-based diversity in our nutrition, because by eating a diverse diet of real foods and avoiding processed foods, we're protecting our gut. Prebiotics and probiotics are the fertilisers that support and help our gut to thrive.
