Manage episode 278307073 series 2291989
This episode is all about christian rock. It’s a nostalgia trip for Trevor and a bunch of information about terrible music for Damian. We talk about the church's original distaste for the rock and roll genre, the influence of the Jesus People, and some early pioneers like Larry Norman. We discuss its rise through the 70s and 80s with bands like Stryper and Petra and CCM artists like Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith, and it’s 90s heyday with bands like dc Talk, Jars of Clay, Newsboys, Audio Adrenaline, and so much more. We also discuss some of the push back to the genre and some controversies surrounding it.
