Our next guest is Amanda Brown. She is the Statewide Forensic Nurse Examiner Coordinator in SC, which you may more commonly know as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. An FNE or SANE is a registered nurse trained in treating victims, making that patient feel comfortable and safe, and collects forensic samples that will go into evidence for possible future prosecution. If you thought this was a fast and simple process, think again! Listen as Amanda goes into detail about the process, and the impacts the lack of forensic nurse training has on both the healthcare system as well as victims.
Stepping Toward Justice with Sarah A. Ford is a podcast where we’ll explore what justice really looks like - inside of a courtroom, outside in our communities, and where access to justice is lacking. We’ll talk with advocates, survivors, and changemakers working to make justice a reality for us all. We can’t change what we don’t understand or acknowledge. So let’s take a step together toward justice.
