Is it time for an organisational restructure? With changes brought on by the pandemic, and advances in technology, corporate restructuring is going to become an important process in 2021 and beyond.
Resizing is not a term that is commonly used in business. But this will be one of the most common words of 2021.
I grew up in the era where your environment was really crucial to your business. You wanted to create the right kind of impression through your building and office space.
However, in the last three years, that space became less and less important as my work became international, and more reliant on video.
At the end of 2019, as my lease was coming to an end, I wondered if it was time for a corporate restructuring. When the pandemic happened, I didn't really think it would get to us to the degree it did. But as I gradually realized the extent to which it would shape our lives, I decided to do an organisational restructure and get rid of the office space.
With resizing, you lose space and gain other space; you gain different support structures and people.
How long do you want to hold onto the cost of physical space? How can you carve it up and change it?
Answering these questions will help you become more efficient, and you’ll be able to figure out whether or not it’s time for corporate restructuring. There are a lot of changes that go along with an organisational restructure, but if done right, they will help you save money and adapt to a changing world.
