Today I am chatting with Erica Lee Garcia, engineering consultant and non-profit owner about the paradigm that women have to choose between being a mom and their career.
Why can't we have both? Turns out we can. We just can't do ALL the things by ourselves. Listen to this great conversation about balancing everything so you can have the life you desire.
We also talk a lot about engineering since we each have that background. Erica runs a non-profit called Engineers of Tomorrow. The goal is to teach kids that the point of engineering is simply to make things better. There are tons of options in engineering for kids who want to vision and create things to improve the planet. We talk about how engineering and careers in the sciences have all kinds of applications for all kids - not just kids that are great at math and science.
Such a great conversation with the overarching message that there is something out there for everyone. It's up to us to define what we want and what's important to us and to achieve those goals in a way that is true to us. (and not being afraid to enlist help!)
