Se o punk é uma subversão dos caminhos que o rock trilhou nos anos 1960 e 1970; o Clash é uma subversão do Punk. E o que marca a banda não é só a subversão da subversão, mas a forma como a sua obra dança no espírito. O London Calling é leve e pesado, simples e complicado, cru e metafórico, tudo ao mesmo tempo. Este disco contraria todas as expectativas que ele cria e ainda inventa algumas novas que ninguém tinha, só para contrariar também.
