Personal information fuels identity theft: Social Security numbers, addresses and dates of birth are big targets. Unfortunately, that means patient data, which is plentiful in medical offices, is a highly desired commodity by cyberthieves. In the 15 months between January 2015 and April 2016, for example, email fraud spiked 270%, according to the FBI.
