Jon Cripwell of www.joncripwell.co.uk is a UK-based PhotoBizX Premium member and wedding photographer.
We were chatting via messenger recently on AI, particularly ChatGPT. He told me he's been using it and spent time creating prompts and workflows.
For example, I've developed a prompt where I can copy and paste the questionnaires I send couples before and after a wedding, and it will create a blog post for that wedding in my style and to the parameters I set. I then make some simple tweaks, add the images, and it's good to go.
I've also created prompts for writing articles, including keywords and SEO-friendly titles.
Then it will also create social media content repurposed from the blogs and articles it writes.
On top of that, it's drafted email sequences for me and given me ideas of things to write about. It's like having a personal assistant – it's wild.
Following that conversation, I asked him to come on and talk about his experience with AI and, specifically, how to use and benefit from ChatGPT in your photography business.
Here's some more of what we covered in the interview:
- A brief background of Jon's photography business
- Photography as a second job, why would you
- How to manage a photography business while having a full-time job
- How Jon learned to utilise AI
- What is ChatGPT
- The benefits of using ChatGPT for your photography business
- How to use ChatGPT to produce content in your writing style
- The need to create re-usable prompts in ChatGPT
- The future of web search
- Jon's process when booking wedding sessions before and after
- How long does it take to generate a blog post with ChatGPT
- Why generating a blog outline in ChatGPT is more important than directly generating a blogpost
- Will Google penalize your website for AI-generated articles
- Using ChatGPT to create captions for Instagram
- Where is the best place to start learning how to use AI tools for your photography business
- Asking ChatGPT how to use the software
- When is the right time to pay for a ChatGPT subscription

The one thing ChatGPT doesn't do is remember from one chat to the next what you've entered previously. That's why creating prompts that are reusable is so important. – Jon Cripwell

What you want really is a prompt that has your style within it but when you copy and paste that in to ChatGPT, it will remember your style and remember the other parameters that you've given it as well. – Jon Cripwell
If you have any questions I missed, a specific question you’d like to ask Jon or if you want to say thanks for coming on the show, feel free to add them in the comments area below.
PhotoBizX Premium Membership Special!
It's rare to see a special price for the Premium Membership, but there's one available for you until Tuesday, May 31st 2023.
Why the special?
Because it's holiday time (I'm off to Spain and France) and there's no better reason to celebrate!
The 12-Month Premium Membership – is normally $200… NOW $120… https://photobizx.com/holidayspecial
This is the cheapest you'll ever see the 12-month membership.
SPECIAL BONUS FOR EXISTING MEMBERS
If you've made a membership payment this month already and want this deal, I'll refund this month's payment for you.
For me to process the refund, you'll need to email me your Paypal email address, which may be different to your regular email address.

iTunes Reviews and Shout-outs
I check for any new iTunes or Google reviews each week, and it's always a buzz to receive these… for several reasons.
Firstly, it's confirmation that I'm on the right track with the interviews and that they are helping you improve your photography business. That's awesome!
Secondly, iTunes and Google are the biggest search engine for podcasts, and your reviews and ratings help other photographers find PhotoBizX. More listeners mean more interviews and, ultimately, a better show.
If you have left a review in the past, thank you! If you haven't and you'd like to, head to https://photobizx.com/itunes or https://photobizx.com/google, and you can leave some honest feedback and a rating which will help both me and the show, and I'll be sure to thank you on the show and add a link to your website or blog if you let me know the URL of your website and your name.
Alternatively, if you've left a review for PhotoBizX and are looking for more backlinks to help your SEO, leave a review for the new Photography Xperiment Podcast and email me your keywords or keyword phrase and where you'd like me to link to.
Another great way to get a backlink to your site is to send a video testimonial. It doesn't need to be fancy, and your phone will be perfect. Click record and tell me how PhotoBizX has impacted you and your photography business.
Thanks again for listening, and thanks to Jon for sharing his thoughts, ideas, examples and real-life scrips in this episode based on how to use and benefit from ChatGPT in a wedding or portrait photography business
The biggest thing is I don't necessarily just take exactly what it spits out. I may ask ChatGPT to refine it a little bit. I usually do add my own comments in there and things as well. – Jon Cripwell
That’s it for me this week; I hope everything is going well for you in life and business!
Thanks, and speak soon
