Rebecca Sehn of www.rebeccasehn.com has been photographing for 15 years, 13 of them as a family photographer.

Look at her website; you're greeted by beautifully laid out, vintage-inspired, gorgeous pages peppered with soft, low-contrast, professionally crafted images. But that's not the sole reason I asked her for this interview.

It started with a post inside the PhotoBizX members Group where she said…

I went from IPS to fully online galleries (I use Pixieset). I focus on selling albums, and my sales averages actually went up without IPS.

I followed up by asking for more details, and she replied:

I switched quite some years ago, and from the get-go, I noticed an increase in sales.

When I was helping my clients order during IPS, I made it easier for them to narrow down images for their album– we'd look at similar images side by side, eliminate options together etc.

When I left them alone to order without me, they chose more.

I knew there was more to the story and am happy to share that Rebecca has done an incredible job with branding, her website, SEO and appealing perfectly to her ideal clients who can't help but see themselves in Rebecca'a photos.

In this interview, learn the importance of a well-branded, high-performing website and how to do the same, no matter your focus genre.

Here's some more of what we covered in the interview:

  • Rebecca's reason for only shooting family sessions
  • How to set up an effective web design for your branding
  • Creating a brand to become the best family photographer in the world
  • How to handle clients who want a different photography style
  • Rebecca's photographic style
  • Rebecca's average sale and how clients get there
  • What to do to guarantee a sales increase
  • The advantages of increasing your pricing
  • What happens during Rebecca's winter sessions
  • The importance of taking the time to rest to avoid burnout
  • How Rebecca finds her clients
  • Rebecca's SEO strategy
  • Why you need to consult a web developer to optimize your website performance
  • Rebecca's workflow for website visitors
  • Is publishing your pricing an effective lead magnet
  • Rebecca's email strategy that has her clients wanting to book
  • Sending out planning guides to clients via mail
  • Rebecca's payment process
  • What would Rebecca do to increase sales
  • How to get high sales without doing IPS
  • Why doesn't Rebecca offer wall arts and IPS
  • Rebecca's design process
  • Rebecca's culling and outsourcing process
  • When Rebecca asks for the final payment
  • How Rebecca brings referrals in
  • The importance of the scarcity mindset
  • How often should you send out emails to your mailing list
  • How easy is it to replicate Rebecca's business model with other genres

iTunes Reviews and Shout-outs

Firstly, it's confirmation that I'm on the right track with the interviews and that they are helping you improve your photography business. That's awesome!

Secondly, iTunes and Google are the biggest search engine for podcasts, and your reviews and ratings help other photographers find PhotoBizX. More listeners mean more interviews and, ultimately, a better show.

If you have left a review in the past, thank you! If you haven't and you'd like to, head to https://photobizx.com/itunes or https://photobizx.com/google, and you can leave some honest feedback and a rating which will help both me and the show, and I'll be sure to thank you on the show and add a link to your website or blog if you let me know the URL of your website and your name.

Alternatively, if you've left a review for PhotoBizX and are looking for more backlinks to help your SEO, leave a review for the new Photography Xperiment Podcast and email me your keywords or keyword phrase and where you'd like me to link to.
