This incredibly real and visceral film follows a frontiersman (Leonardo DiCaprio) on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s as he fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. Beyond the all-star casting, the film's cinematography alone has earned the awards it was given and declared to be best viewed on a big screen.
