For those of you that did not know, today is Freddrick Douglas's Birthday as well as Valentine's Day. Frederick Douglass, one of the world's great abolitionists, was born over 200 years ago. He was an African-American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman. After escaping from slavery in Maryland, he became a national leader of the abolitionist movement in Massachusetts and New York, becoming famous for his oratory and incisive antislavery writings.
