Ahaji Schreffler is the founder and president of We The Village, a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting children at Love Orphanage in Haiti. Since 2011, Ahaji has worked closely with Love Orphanage to provide ongoing needs like food and clothing, as well as education, and other priority projects designed to improve the children's quality of life. She travels to Haiti several times per year, often leading volunteer groups and teaching study abroad courses there.

During our conversation, Ahaji talks about

  • Starting her non-profit from scratch without experience or a plan
  • The power of accepting life’s invitation
  • The defining moment when she accepted her calling
  • Fears she faced and lessons she’s learned along her journey
  • Your small efforts can make a big difference
  • Why Love Orphanage is unique
  • How you can get involved, and much more…

Powerful quotes from Ahaji

“I think sometimes people think they have to have a master plan or vision before they start something, and that certainly was not the case for me.”

“(If) people nudge you and tap you enough times and you’re listening, at some point, you gotta pay attention.”

“Instead of trying to figure it all out, I’m going to learn as I do what I do.”

“It’s not about having all the answers. It’s really about understanding why you’re doing it.”
