En 1968, el Piraikon, teatro de Grecia, se presentó en nuestro Teatro Nacional Cervantes con tres espectáculos memorables y sorprendentes. Pudieron apreciarse allí "La Orestíada", de Esquilo, y el "Hipólito" y la "Ifigenia en Áulide", de Eurípides. Cabe recordar que los temas de "Ifigenia en Áulide" y "Tauride” llegaron a la ópera al promediar la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, con partituras del compositor alemán Christoph Willibald Von Gluck. Entre una pieza y la otra pasan 30 años. Por eso, la producción creyó conveniente que Ifigenia fuera interpretada por dos actrices diferentes con edades totalmente distintas.
