Season 5 Episode 20 : Marty Sheedy/Project Scissor Gait; the Jerry Duval case update
Jazz Cabbage Café hosts Rick Thompson and Jamie Lowell discuss the attacks on the caregiver system and introduce the audience to Marty Sheedy, founder of Project Scissor Gait. Marty suffers from a rare disease which interferes with his movement; as a result he developed a new way to walk, which has inspired others with his condition to imitate his style.
Jazz Cabbage then delves into the Jerry Duval case, the story of a Michigan caregiver who was in compliance with state law yet was charged with violations of federal crimes. He's been in prison for nearly ten years. His mother and advocate for the incarcerated Stacey Theis discuss the history of his case, his current state of health and his timetable for release.
The broadcast team for this episode includes Debra Young, Shelly Smith and Colin MacDougall.
Jazz Cabbage received an Award of Distinction from the Communicator Awards in April of 2021, and was named one of America's best cannabis podcasts by Celeb Stoner Magazine. The broadcast takes place live every Tuesday at 4pm EST on Youtube, Twitch and Facebook; podcast is available for listening shortly thereafter on Alexa, Spotify and all major platforms.
