This episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast I'm chatting with Peter G. Adams, composer on Qubi series 'Survive' starring 'Game Of Thrones' Sophie Turner, and 'The Walking Dead's Corey Hawkins.

For those of you who have not yet come across Quibi, it is a mobile-centric streaming service founded by Dreamwork's Jeffrey Katzenberg, and is devoted to short-form programming, so that means all the episodes are around 10 mins long. Although it is short form, they have a stunning array of talent producing and starring in their shows, from a version of 'The Fugitive' starring Kiefer Sutherland and Boyd Holbrook, to a horror series from Steven Spielberg, to a racing competition series with Idris Elba!

'Survive' is based on the acclaimed novel by Alex Morel, and follows the character Jane (Sophie Turner - 'Game Of Thrones'), who was involved in a deadly plane crash in the middle of nowhere. Jane and the only other survivor, Paul (Corey Hawkins - 'Walking Dead', '24: Legacy'), embark on a journey through the wilderness where they battle brutal conditions and deal with their own personal traumas.

It was Peter's job to compose music that reflects both Jane's inner conflicts as well as the harsh, new environment she is stuck in. In the interview, Peter goes in-depth about his scoring process for the series, the range of themes in the music - from terrifying and harsh, to personal and intimate, and why he wanted to create a more cinematic sounding score for the short episode format.

In addition to 'Survive', Peter has worked on a range of tv, film and video games. He provided additional music for 'American Crime Story', 'American Horror Story' and 'Cold Case', along with the video games 'Far Cry 4' & 'Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure', and the movies 'War Dogs' & 'Game Night'.

One other project we touch on in the interview is the as-yet-unreleased 'Star Wars: Detours' animated series, which was made by 'Robot Chicken's Seth Green & Matthew Senreich. Unfortunately, this was just as Disney bought Lucasfilm, which led to the series being shelved, however, you can find trailers for it up on YouTube.
