For Six-Time PGA TOUR Champ Billy Horschel, improvement is all about baby steps — you have to crawl before you can walk. Billy has a target of improving just 1% each day, whether that’s working on his putt or spending 10 more minutes with his kids.
Billy, who first held a golf club at age 3, wasn’t focused on a specific sport; he just wanted the chance to play at the highest levels. But when he broke his elbow playing baseball at the age of 14 and fractured a growth plate, the decision was essentially made for him. Golf it was.
After playing at the University of Florida, and becoming the second person in his family to get a college degree, he went pro in 2009.
He’s now a six-time PGA Tour winner, but his path wasn’t linear.
In this episode of Forge Ahead, Billy reflects on his path to becoming a professional golfer, including how perseverance helped his career, overcoming perfectionism, thriving under pressure, the importance of giving back, and more.
