In this episode, we start by chatting about what not charging your worth looks like and why it happens.

Born in Sierra Leone, Mimi knew at age 7 what she was meant to do. She had a vision at that young age where she was working with and inspiring women which in her mind meant being an entrepreneur. But her journey was quite unique in that her parents were both professors. As she says, “in my culture, you don’t grow up “selling things.” You get a professional career and be an employee. I decided I wasn’t going to rock the boat, so I swallowed my voice.”

Mimi did not do what she knew she was called to do because she was scared. Coming from a family that valued education, she elected to go to school. Before she jumped into her own business, she got her MBA, CPA, and become an attorney, so she didn’t really land in her own dream until her 40’s.

Truth is, Mimi needed permission to say yes to her dream. She was fearful of what would happen when she finally stepped made the move, so she stayed in jobs that didn’t serve her soul.

Mimi’s advice: “Be great now!” Don’t wait because someone needs you. Your gifts are not your own. When you keep it inside and hold yourself back, that’s selfish.”
