JUMP, DARLING stars Hollywood legend Cloris Leachman (in an extraordinary final starring performance) and newcomer Thomas Duplessie in writer/director Phil Connell’s debut feature film — an offbeat LGBTQ family drama that follows a rookie drag queen reeling from a breakup who moves in with his declining grandmother to protect her from the local nursing home.
The film is a thoughtful exploration of the right to live as who we are and how we wish — and, poignantly, timely, end of life care and the right to die how we wish.
The supporting cast of JUMP, DARLING includes industry veterans Linda Kash, Jayne Eastwood and cameos from well-known drag queens Tynomi Banks (featured recently on Canada’s Drag Race), Fay Slift and Miss Fiercelicious. The film showcases six on-screen drag performances against a pop soundtrack including Robyn, Allie X, Rough Trade, Years & Years and more.
JUMP, DARLING first screened at a one-night-only Special Preview drive-in event hosted by Inside Out LGBTQ Film Festival (a financing partner) in Toronto this past October and will be released on Apple, Google Play, and VOD on March 9th through levelFILM.
Phil Connell is a writer, director and producer. JUMP, DARLING, Phil's debut feature film, starring Thomas Duplessie and Academy Award-winner Cloris Leachman, executive produced by Karen Harnisch and Allison Black, and distributed in Canada by Level Film is set for release in 2021. THOMAS DUPLESSIE (RUSSELL)
Originally from New Brunswick, Thomas has been living in Toronto since 2008. After graduation from theatre school, he has worked consistently in theatre and television, appearing in episodes of In the Dark, Man Seeking Woman, Heroes Reborn, Reign and Murdoch Mysteries to name a few. He has performed alongside such stars as Jay Baruchel, Megan Follows and George Wendt. Most recently, Thomas made his feature-film debut starring opposite Academy Award- winner Cloris Leachman in, Jump, Darling.

Rivky is a writer-painter-vocalist-banterer living with a form of schizophrenia, trying to get by in NYC just like any other old lunatic. An advocacy speaker giving musical performances while speaking of her lived experiences to students and mental health initiatives, shining a light on psychosis. Her music has been nominated by the IMEA Award and produced by Grammy-winning Amy Lee of Evanescence. Her career jump started composing for Off-Broadway where she met her bestie and 2 fingered Cello talent Brian Sanders. They play when they can and she keeps on keeping on when she can. With a giggle and a wink and one rolling tear for an added dose of a high end Jaques Brelian-Freddie Mercury Bourgeois. Currently she is writing a children's book.
