CANADE
Ronald Canady, (they/them/he) has been influenced by the foundation of contemporaryR&B but infused with Gospel and Pop. From the tender age of 7 years old, as an only child, they watched their grandmother sing in the choir and listened to their mother casually cover Anita Baker songs. The heart and soul of the choir and the raw emotion their mother shared singing songs such as, “365 days” ignited their passion for music as an art form and allowed for the recognition of their own talent. Music blossomed within them as they grew to perform with an award-winning group, “the Jazz Singers”, and instilled the dream of a solo career. For the past ten years, Canade (their artist name) has performed at open mics, showcases, and talent revues both locally in the greater Atlanta area and NYC. Cultivating their own sound by challenging the norm, Canade covers deep cuts and obscure nostalgic gems in song sets that most artists would never even think of. With complex lyrical content and compelling arrangements, they're getting back to what R&B/Soul music is at its core, honest and raw. Canade’s brand is a complete package of complexity and sincerity. The sound, a compilation of a wide range of influences, is uniquely their own. Canade has released their EP MAGIC HOUR available on all the various streaming services and you can visit their website for more info at www.iamcanade.com/

GRUMMS:
“Grumms”(they/them) is a transgender theatre artist and performer from Saskatoon/Treaty6 Territory. After graduating from acting school and becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of opportunities for queer and trans folks, Grummsbegan Scantily Glad Theatre, a 2SLGBTQIA+ theatre company that works to promote queer artists and stories. For the past 5 years, Grumms has created and toured original queer shows to Fringe festivals and stages around the world. Their latest show; SOMETHING IN THE WATER is a celebration of the “not normal”: queer bodies and gender expressions deemed ‘unnatural’ by our society. Audiences will be spellbound by stunning video projections, slapstick, and satire; all are stirred up together with Grumm's glowing and playful performance. With the perfect balance of absurdist physical comedy and vulnerable self-exploration, the show weaves a touching story of acceptance that anyone can relate to.
SOMETHING IN THE WATER is part of the Vancouver Fringe Festival and is running September 9th – 19th at the Revue Stage / 1601 Johnston St.Granville Island. For tickets and more information on the artist, visit vancouverfringe.com or scantillygladtheatre.com
