"Look at all the things we had to do happen to become who we are today".
Karen's story is inspiring. Karen lost her son Daniel in 2011 on the 12th of July. It was a day that was supposed to be a lazy Sunday. Yet, there he was, lying in a fetal position.
Karen and her husband grieved differently. Now, how does this relate to Bulimia?
Karen changed her life. Left the corporate life and helps people with loss, of which she explains there are over 40 types. It could be the loss of a person and the loss of self.
I brought up shame. I know many of my clients and women and men who reach out to me bring this up. This is where Karen brings up the vibration, and shame is at the bottom. This is where she helps people increase the vibration, one step at a time. She owns the Chaston Centre, and helps people heal and create their "everyday better day life".
Losing identity is not easy. And some of us with Bulimia, that is truly a part of it. As well as shame.
Karen went on to discuss this "shame" and "vibration", and did share about two people she knew who had bulimia. One of them was a woman born in 1924. I could relate and did not share, however, my Aunt had bulimia as well. she was born in 1927. Bulimia existed that long ago. However we didn't have social media, or even back when there were magazines, this was never brought up. It took Karen Carpenter dying, and then Jane Fonda coming out for us to realize this. And sadly with Social Media, this is still a problem.
I appreciate Karen for her story, sharing it, helping others overcome loss, even if it's finding yourself again, having lost yourself.

More about Karen:
Karen ran on the corporate treadmill until the day the world came tumbling down on her head.

The constant effort of juggling work, family, the big house and cars, and the stress created by all that was taking its toll on her even before tragedy struck when her son Dan (27), suddenly and very unexpectedly died at her back door in July 2011.

Straight after Dan’s funeral, Karen went straight back to her Chief Financial Officer’s role at a Publicly Listed Company, working more, drinking more, and eating more. Using all her coping mechanisms to just carry on and succeed at that level.

Karen now knows that Dan’s passing was meant to be her wake-up call. So the Universe decided to show her that death comes in many ways ~ death of a loved one, a marriage, a job, a partnership, a pet, your health, and/or your wealth.

Her second death came 15 months later in the form of redundancy when her company merged with another. This was the greatest GIFT.

That is when she started on the Journey to Becoming Her Own Best Friend.

From there they created the Gift of Loss programs which demonstrate the correlations between loss and people and profits for both individuals and companies.

Her motto: “Life is too
