Join Nancy J. Reid and Lisa D. Smith, the mother-daughter publisher team of Big Blend Magazines and full-time travelers on the Love Your Parks Tour, for Big Blend Radio’s Fall Festival “Vacation Station” travel show with travel writer Debbie Stone who shares how there’s “Plenty Good with North Dakota’s Badlands!” As covered in her article on NationalParkTraveling.com, Debbie talks about her adventures in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, that protects over 70,000 acres, spread across three sectors: South Unit, North Unit, and Elkhorn Ranch Unit. Of the total acres, nearly 30,000 have been designated Wilderness Area. The South and North Units offer scenic drives, miles of trails, and opportunities to view wildlife. The Elkhorn Ranch Unit is the site of Roosevelt’s ranch, but only the cornerstones of his cabin remain. Along with the park, hear about Medora, a quaint, tiny, Old West town that’s chockful of activities, as well as restaurants, shops, and lodging. Highlights include the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame, De Mores State Historic Site, Bully Pulpit Golf Course, “The Teddy Roosevelt Show,” and the Medora Fudge and Ice Cream Depot. Featured music is “Great Blue Sky” from the album “As Things Could Be” by Evren Ozan.
