Pastor's Weekly Email: December 5, 2020 Church, Isaiah wrote 700 years before Jesus birth, 'for unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is givien,' Is 9:6. He was speaking of the fact that Jesus, the Son of God, was coming as a light in the darkness. His statement is interesting because he declares, 'a child is born' and 'a son is given.' This statement speaks to the fact that Jesus is fully God and fully man. He came as a child, as a man to identify with men. He came as a man to live through the same things we live through. To be tempted in every thing we are tempted in and yet live without sin. To experience pain, sickness, sorrow, temptation, betrayal and much more. In coming as a child, He also accepted the punishment for the sins of ALL men and He became the perfect sacrifice for all of us! In coming as a Son, He was the repreresentation of God. Paul even says He was equal with God. John declared His eternal name to be the Word. As a Son, He was Redeemer, Savior, Waymaker. It is vital that we understand that to us a child has been born and to us a Son has been given. This act of selfless love shows God the Father wants to be reconciled with you. It shows the powerful love and determination of the Father to renew and restore His relationship with us. Can we focus on the gift given to us? A Son has been given, receive Him, rejoice in Him. Tomorrow we gather to celebrate the great Gift we have been given, Jesus Christ! Come worship with us. Come celebrate the generosity of the Father in giving us His Son! December is a time of greater generosity. We are challenged to be greater givers this month. Consider bringing your best gift of the entire year to the Lord's House this month. It is only as we adopt a spirit of generosity that the needs of the church are supplied. God could open the windows of Heaven and simply pour out on His church everything we need. But instead, He has chosen to use me and you. He has chosen to bless us that we might be a blessing. He has chose to teach us by His very example in giving, that it really is 'more blessed to give than to receive.'
