Kamila talks about her real life experiences being a Jehovah's Witness and how that experience shaped her latest film and she talks about how she managed to fundraise a successful crowdfunding campaign of 20 thousand euro for the project.

Kamila Dydyna is an actress and filmmaker based in Dublin. Her debut short film Testimony, starring Neill Fleming and Clodagh Downing, was screened in festivals in Ireland, Europe, U.S.A. and Australia. It picked up multiple award nominations along the way, including Best Director at the BAFTA-qualifying Underwire Film Festival in London and IMDb New Filmmaker Award at the Bath Film Festival. Her second film, The Betrayal (co-directed with Natasha Waugh, starring Miriam Devitt and Mark McAuley) premiered at the GAZE International LGBT Film Festival in Dublin. Kamila received a Best Actress nomination for her portrayal of Nel, The Betrayal's protagonist, at the Dublin Underground Cinema Awards. The film, featuring music by Nick Cave, Ryan Vail & Conor Walsh, was broadcast on RTE and included in The Irish Times list of best TV programs of the week. Her acting work includes performances in Dear Ireland Continues (Abbey Theatre), My Name Is Language (Dublin Theatre Festival) and Normal (Smock Alley Theatre/ Restless Ecstasy Theatre Company). She’s currently in post-production on her 3rd short, Debutante, a contemporary drama set in the world of Irish Jehovah’s Witnesses, which was shot between the two pandemic lockdowns of 2020.
